Dear Members,<br /> <br />THE WINTER RIDE IS POSTPONED<br />Whilst covid numbers in the Brisbane area have stabilised, the lockdown in greater Sydney has been extended and there is some lingering uncertainty about straying too far across the border at the moment. Several members have already cancelled their plans to come on the ride. Along with the forecast of afternoon rain on Friday, I have reluctantly reached the conclusion that we should postpone the scheduled ride to Grafton and Dorrigo for another day, preferably when we can meet up with our DOCNSW amici.<br /><br />BUT WE WILL DO AN OVERNIGHT RIDE TO GOONDIWINDI INSTEAD<br />I have thought about a ride exploring the back roads to Goondiwindi for some time and this is a good opportunity to scout the roads and stay within the border. This will not be a 3 day ride but an overnight ride, still leaving from McDonalds Beaudesert at 8am for 8.30am departure, but on Saturday. We will ride via Boonah, Queen Mary Falls, Warwick, Stanthorpe (early lunch), Texas and follow the border roads to Goondiwindi via Yelarbon - its a little over 400 kilometres for the day. On Sunday, we can either return to Brisbane along the same route or ride over towards Toowoomba or Crows Nest and come back that way.<br /> <br />Please book your own accommodation - suggested accommodation for Saturday night is at O&#39;Shea&#39;s Royal Hotel in the heart of Goondiwindi - 07 4671 1877 - although other motel accommodation is available and we will have dinner at O&#39;Shea&#39;s.<br /> <br />Please email me if you intend coming or otherwise, just turn up at McDonalds on Saturday morning. I apologise for the late notice of the postponement of the Winter Ride but trust you will appreciate the difficult circumstances. Whilst the ride to Goondiwindi won&#39;t have the same sporting roads as our Mid Winter Ride, it should still be a good weekend. Give me a ring if you have any queries.<br />PS.
